Bonnie Jean Houseworth Hall Carpenter of Colorado City, Colorado passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the age of 93. She is now present with her Lord and surrounded by family and those she loved so dearly. Bonnie was born on April 8, 1933, in Bosworth, Missouri to Orville Lee and Maude Evelyn Houseworth. Her three children were able to gather with her to celebrate her 93rd Birthday.
Bonnie grew up on the family farm and was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters. Bonnie graduated from Tina High School in 1951. She played on the high school girls’ basketball and baseball teams. Her greatest love was music. She enjoyed playing the piano and was active in the school choirs. Her senior year of High School she won a state piano competition playing The Flight of the Bumblebee. This challenging piece allows musicians to demonstrate their skills. At that competition she won a full ride scholarship to college but decided to marry instead of going on to further her education. On May 13, 1951, she married Dale Ray Hall, Sr. from Bogard, Missouri. In 1954 they moved to Kansas City, Missouri. In 1960 they moved to Arvada, Colorado. Bonnie and Dale had three children, Jeane, Janice, and Dale Jr.
In 1982, Bonnie and Dale divorced. She then married John Carpenter on July 23, 1993. In 1999, Bonnie decided to move to Colorado City, Colorado where she built a new home.
Bonnie enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Around 1970 she started giving piano and voice lessons until 2012 when she finally retired. She taught thousands of students over the years and was always proud of their performances at recitals. Bonnie loved her Lord and was active in church. In Colorado City she attended Valley Community Church. She dedicated considerable time at home to studying the Bible and praying for her family and friends.
Bonnie's beloved parents, Orville Lee and Maude Evelyn Houseworth, passed away before her. Along with her siblings, Aubrey Houseworth, Estle Blair, Anders Houseworth, Ann Runner, Jean LaMountain, Dorothy Keifer, Leota Storm and O.L. Houseworth.
Bonnie leaves behind her husband, John Carpenter; her daughter Jeane Conrad (Galen) from Kelso, Washington; Janice Coombs from Rose Hill, Kansas; and Dale Hall Jr. (Debbie) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews who cared deeply for her remain among her surviving family members. Her coffee table was the centerpiece in her living room displaying photographs of her friends and family. Those photos captured her memories and were her greatest pride.
Our family would like to thank mom’s nieces and nephews who constantly reached out, sending her words of comfort and support. She enjoyed every visit. We would also like to thank Jazmin at FirstLight Home Care for her amazing care and compassion she showed our mom in her final days.
Bonnie's memorial service will be scheduled at a future date. She rests at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Denver, Colorado.
