Larry Brockman was a man of immense sincerity. He spoke every word in earnest. Throughout their forty-four years of marriage, Larry said “I love you” to his wife Gina countless times—he may have moved his mouth to do so, but the phrase came from his whole heart. The same is true of every “I’m proud of you” he told his four children (Stephanie, Aaron, David, and Jesse) along with his many grandkids. But do not let his sincerity fool you—Larry loved to tell a joke. However, he did so, not at anyone’s expense, but with an honest wish to hear people laugh.
That is a fine example of how Larry lived: in a constant effort to provide for someone else. Whether it be laughter or food on the table, he worked hard so that others may enjoy. If deer and elk had provided no meat to feed his friends and family, Larry would’ve left those antlered animals alone and hunted something else that did. A logger for three decades and two more managing a propane wholesale, Larry hardly needed pockets of his own—every dollar earned, he seemed to count as nothing more than the income of his loved ones. In retirement, Larry employed himself to support others. His time and energy was readily volunteered. Even in leisure, Larry’s favorite aspects were tied to those he cherished. When asked what the best part is, regarding his trips to the beach with Gina, Larry simply answered, “it pleases my wife.”
To become the man of immense sincerity, Larry was, first and foremost, a man of immense faith. His deep passion for people was rooted in an even deeper passion for God. The love and kindness Larry displayed was due in part to his humble desire to imitate the love that Christ displayed on the cross. He prayed with conviction and worshiped with authenticity. When Larry shared the Gospel, he spoke with utter certainty. Of all the earnest words he said throughout his life, there was one thing that Larry Brockman wanted to make crystal clear: Jesus Christ is Lord, and He offers love and salvation to all.
Larry Wayne Brockman was born March 12, 1945 to James Brockman and Opal Asher. He went home to see His Savior on May 11, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Gina, his children Stephanie, and husband Sean Carroll, Aaron & wife, Denise, David, & Jesse & wife Ricki; his grandsons, Dallas & Logan Carroll, Donoven, Seth, Noah & Barrett Brockman & great grandson, Asaph Carroll; also his brother Kenneth Brockman and many nephews & nieces. A celebration of life service will be held at Anderson Community Church on Saturday, June 14 @ 11:00 am.
