Andrew Martin Childers

Andrew Childers passed away at the age of 36 in his home in Chico, California on August 12th, 2023. Andrew lost his brave and long battle with cancer, but not without leaving his mark on this world. Andrew is survived by his two parents, Jim and Carol, that love him more than words can express, his brothers, Michael, Aaron, Josh Scott, and his favorite canine companion, Tifa. He also leaves behind too many friends to list.

Andrew was a people pleaser and entertainer. He took pride in modifying his home to have a clean and stylish feel. Andrew was also an avid gamer, whether they be board, video, card, or pen and paper games—he loved them all. He would often host game nights where he’d showcase his other passion, barbeque. His friends would know that they would leave his home full of delicious food, and with new happy memories of his silly voices and midnight BBQ ribs.

Andrew is most well-known around his hometown of Chico and for his work at Build.com. Andrew started back in 2010 as a data clerk and followed a trajectory moving from data to merchandising and eventually found his knack in refining Build’s recommendations engine, which he owned for the past 7+ years.

The data experience and expertise he gained during that time made Andrew a “go to” person within the organization due to his far-reaching breadth of knowledge. He was someone you could lean on to understand complex systems and data. He was always willing to help others in any way he could, even if it wasn’t part of his job to do so. But beyond all of that, he was someone who put others first in every situation and was an incredibly caring individual.
