Vickie Diane Delaruelle

Vickie D. DeLaruelle, 69, of Matthews, North Carolina, formerly of Topeka, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center after a courageous battle with glioblastoma. She was born in Goshen, Indiana, to Delbert E. and June R. (Ettline) Lantz. Vickie worked for over 30 years as a healthcare caregiver, pouring her time and energy into caring for others with the same tenderness and determination she showed her family. She was known for her big heart, her inability to sit still, and her constant drive to be doing something thoughtful for someone else. One of the clearest ways she showed love was through cooking: she took joy in preparing meals and making beautiful plates, especially for family gatherings, holidays, and anyone who walked through her door. Those meals were one of her love languages, and countless family members and friends felt seen and cared for at her table. Vickie was also deeply creative; she enjoyed crafting, baking, and making small, handmade touches that turned ordinary moments into special ones. Her home was often filled with signs of her creativity—projects in progress, gifts she was putting together, or something new she was trying out for the people she loved. Animals held a special place in her heart as well, and she was the type of person who always had room in her life for one more pet to love.

Vickie is survived by her husband, Randall J. DeLaruelle; her children, Amber Turientine, Brent DeLaruelle, and Amy DeLaruelle; her brother, Steven K. (Felippa) Lantz; grandchildren, Cameron Bontrager (Monika), Hailey Bontrager, Lauryn Bontrager; Kailey DeLaruelle and great-grandsons, Carter and Milo Bontrager. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Delbert E. Lantz and Allan D. Lantz; and her daughter, Breanne R. Bontrager.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Eden Worship Center, Topeka, IN. Family and friends are invited to come share memories, laughter, and stories of how Vickie touched their lives. In lieu of flowers, or in addition to them, donations may be made in Vickie’s honor to the LaGrange County Humane Society, reflecting her lifelong love for animals and her desire to see them cared for.
