Name: Neptune Society Charlotte
Address: Charlotte, NC

I met Vance in the early 70’s at a Toastmasters Speaking Club dinner meeting in Charlotte, NC. He was a member of the club and convinced me to join. We both worked at Duke Power Company in the Nuclear Design Engineering Department. Vance became an expert on Control and Instrumentation Design for Duke’s Nuclear Power Plants and throughout his career was the focal point for the Company’s Design, Implementation, and Problem Solving for Instrumentation/Controls. Vance was also the “go to” person for directing you to the best eating places in Charlotte. It was a pleasure to go with him to lunches… an activity we continued after retirement. In fact, if you ever had the opportunity to join Vance for a meal, you would have noticed his signature ‘Lemonade with a little tea’ drink. Vance would order an unsweet tea and 8 lemons to drink with his meal and methodically squeeze all eight lemons to flavor his tea! Vance and his technical knowledge and humor will be missed!
