Suzanne "Sue" Hershey

Sue was the only daughter of Earl Sponslor and Anna (Rice) Horner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John.

She is survived by her five children: Doug (Kay), Cindy (Bill Cantrell), Craig (Sue), Jill (Tom Goodman), and Mark (Carol). She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

What we’ll remember most

Family was Sue’s greatest joy. She never missed a chance to gather everyone around the table for Uno, Rummikub, and LRC. For many years, she played duckpin bowling at Elk’s Lodge with her girlfriends — a tradition filled with laughter, friendly competition, and stories that lasted long after the last frame.

Sue spent most of her life working in hospitality. She truly enjoyed serving and interacting with others, and had a gift for making people feel welcome. Whether it was a guest at work or family at home, she treated everyone with warmth and quick humor.

She loved watching murder mystery shows, winning at bingo, and finishing her word find books. Sue was a truly talented artist who filled sketchbooks with drawings of family, flowers, and the little moments that caught her eye. And she never, ever passed up dessert. Her “suckies” were always close by, and whether it was pie, cake, milkshakes, or candy, she loved it all.

Anyone who met Sue remembered her quick wit and the way she could make anyone laugh. Her jokes came fast, her humor was sharp, and her love for her family was fierce.

She will be deeply missed, but she leaves behind a legacy of laughter, games well played, and a family who adored her. She is now at peace.

Per her request, Sue will be cremated and her final resting place will be beside her husband John’s grave at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a brief service at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003 on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:30 AM followed by a luncheon at the Blue Bird Inn 2387 Cornwall road, Lebanon, PA 17042.
