Stanley E McChristian

Born February 10, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois Stan moved with his family to Miami Beach in 1920. He graduated from Miami Senior High in 1937 and was drafted into the Army in January 1941. Stan flew 25 missions in WW2 as copilot of a B-24 in 1945 as part of the 15th Airforce 454th Bomber Group. In 1947, Stan married Constance Ash of Miami, Florida.

After retiring from the USAF in 1961, Stan attended the University of Florida and received his Masters in Education in 1963. He taught mathematics at Nova High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, until 1986.

An accomplished golfer from his teenage years, Stan golfed regularly until he was 96. He won the All Service Golf Championship in 1948.

His ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Stan is survived by 5 children and their spouses: Tom and Leslee Kovalaske of Theresa, WI, Jeffrey and Patricia McChristian of West Hartford, CT, Brian and Katherine McChristian of Chicago, IL, Dr. Stanley Jr. (Chip) and Ann McChristian of Hendersonville, NC, and Robert and Lisa McChristian of Pittsburgh, PA. He is survived by eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Stan had a humble, giving spirit which he brought to all of his relationships, as well as his teaching career. In his last 9 years living at Brookdale, he endeavored to "make at least one person smile every day".

His family is grateful for the example he set and also so grateful to the friends and caregivers at Brookdale Hendersonville East and Four Seasons Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages all to "make at least one person smile every day" to honor Stan.
