Mr. Richie Allen Moss of Gastonia, North Carolina, peacefully departed this life into his next chapter, surrounded by the love of his devoted family. Richie was the very definition of love in action—a faithful husband, proud father, doting grandfather, cherished son, and the best brother anyone could ask for.
Born and raised in the Carolinas, Richie graduated from Clover High School in 1983. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Moss.
Richie leaves behind his beloved wife, Kellie Moss, and their two children, Jessica (Josh) and Richie (Bri). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Riley and Oliver, who brought endless joy to his life.
He is also survived by his mother, Sarah Moss (Tam), whom he deeply cherished; his siblings Steve (Christie), Darrick (Brachelle), and Roberta (Ernest); and two special brothers by heart, Bobby (Luela) and Ronnie (Sabrina). Richie was also blessed with in-laws who loved him dearly, including brother-in-law Steve (Lorraine) and sister-in-law Pam.
A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins—many of whom he affectionately referred to as his brothers and sisters—complete the village that shaped and supported Richie throughout his life.
Richie was known for his passionate love of life and his favorite teams, the Washington Redskins (Commanders) and the Boston Celtics. When he returned to the old neighborhood, you heard him before you saw him—George Clinton or Tupac booming from his speakers, a signature that brought smiles and joy wherever he went. It’s a wonder Richie could still hear, but then again, he always lived full volume.
He would not want us to mourn, but to celebrate a life well lived. Richie enjoyed every moment and brought light to every room, laughter to every conversation, and love to every soul he touched.
Though we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in knowing that Richie’s next chapter will be greater than we can imagine. We love you, Richie—rest easy on the fairways of Heaven.
