Patricia Eleanor (Morris) Pugsley

Patty was born on February 17, 1944 in Oakland, California and graduated from Vallejo High School. She attended St Francis School of Nursing and the College of Alameda, and was a proud graduate of Mills College where she was tied three ways for valedictorian of her class. Patty was a nurse for 12 years and also worked in banking and insurance. She earned a gerontology certificate, and together with Bill, provided end of life care for her father, his parents and two siblings.

A great knitter, Patty also enjoyed crochet and sewing. She and Bill volunteered at the Andy Griffith Playhouse Theater in Mt Airy and enjoyed being Santa and Mrs Claus each year in parades and at holiday events.

Patty and Bill had recently moved to Lansing, North Carolina, to be closer to their sons and their families. They previously lived in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Mt Airy, NC, and Stockton, California.

Patty is survived by her sons Paul (Amie) and Mark (Billie), and step-daughter Kristina, 6 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a nephew. Also left to miss her are: her sister Nancy (Ralph) of San Antonio Texas; Carol, close friend of 50 years of Alameda, California; and Bill’s niece Cheryl (Tom) of Little Rock, Arkansas and brother Jim of Freemont, California. Dash and Dolly, their loving dogs, will also miss her lap and attention.

A private celebration of life is planned for late November in North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Bright Focus, which provides research grants for Alzheimer’s and Macular Degeneration.
