With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Patricia Shaw Hamilton, who passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, at the age of 87. Born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut, Pat later made Charlotte, North Carolina, her home, where she embraced life with boundless energy, creativity, and love.
Pat was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Rutherford and Christine Shaw, her brothers, Robert Shaw and Kenneth Shaw, her beloved son, Michael Lanier, and a host of dear family and friends who went before her.
A true force of nature, Pat lived life with an infectious spirit and an adventurous heart. Whether leading an exercise class, offering fashion advice, tackling a home project, or diving into a new craft, she approached everything with enthusiasm, grace, and an unmistakable spark. She had an uncanny ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved—leaving a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Above all, Pat was a woman of unwavering love and kindness. Her radiant smile, warm laughter, and generous heart made the world a brighter place. She cherished her family deeply and built a legacy of strength, joy, and resilience.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, James Hamilton; her daughter, Pamela Lanier; stepchildren, Pleshette Perry, Sheliah Hamilton, Shereen Hamilton, and Troy Hamilton; grandchildren, Justin Lanier, Najea Poindexter, Jaron Hamilton, and Jaren Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Zharia Lanier, Ziaire Lanier, and Gio Lanier; her cousin, Ronnie Reid (Joyce Reid); her niece and nephew, Carmen Shaw and Kyle Shaw; and a host of cherished family members and dear friends.
Patricia Shaw Hamilton was a beacon of light, love, and inspiration. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
