Marilyn Jean (Hartman) Bowser has passed away peacefully at age 87. Marilyn was the daughter of the late Omah and Imogene Hartman. Her younger sister Bonnie also preceded her. Originally from Meadville, PA she has also made Estero, FL and Fort Mill, SC her home.
She is survived by the love of her life and high school sweetheart, David Bowser, her husband of almost 68 years. She was a beloved mother of Jeff, Mark (Travis Mohn), and Jennifer McTiernan (John). She was a doting grandmother of Emily and Kyle, whom she said added sparkle to her life.
Enjoying helping others, Marilyn served on several boards and she had been a trustee of her Methodist Church. She also tutored ESL children while in Estero, Florida. She loved gardening and displaying flowers, her book club, and always learning new things. And the beach …
Mom was an intelligent, strong and capable woman. A Fourth grade educator for 35 years, she said it never felt like a day of work. For a number of years she was a committee chair for the Meadville Thurston Classic Hot Air Balloon Rally, and she was fortunate to attended the Hot-air Balloon festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Marilyn was really good at making friends and she has many far and wide. She cared about people, and appreciated everyone in her life. She wanted a special thank you to her hospice team, they gave her a better life for a year and a half.
She will be greatly missed.
