June felt a strong sense of service and trained to become a nurse in Bristol, England. She became friends with fellow student Vivienne Thresh and met her brother, Henry, who became the love of her life. After graduating, they were married on August 23, 1952. June followed her husband as he pursued his career in scientific research. They emigrated to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1959 and Cleveland, Ohio in the United States in 1967. In 1976 they relocated to Chicago, Illinois.
June enjoyed her own career in nursing as well as raising her family. Most of her nursing career was spent caring for the elderly. She maintained strong ties to her family in England as well as her native
country. A huge supporter of the royal family and traditional British life, she also loved her Corgis which she enjoyed later in life. She was known as a sweet lady who was though8ul, kind and generous.
June is survived by her children, Wynslow and Carol, her grandchild Shannon (Ivan) Bermudez-Virgen
and two great grandchildren.
Preceding June in death were her parents, Dora and Roland Hewitt her brother, Cecil Hewitt; her husband Henry; her sister-in-law, Vivienne Thresh; and her daughter-in-law, Debra Thresh.
June and Henry’s wishes were to have their ashes scattered in the Atlantic Ocean, midway between their birthplace and final residence.
