Born on Long Island, NY, to the late John and Helen Codignotto, Joyce grew up in Wantagh and was in the first graduating class from Wantagh High School in 1956. She married Henry Lidowski in 1957 and raised their three children in West Babylon. After divorce, Joyce joined the sales department at Sossner Tap & Tool Corp. in Melville, NY, where she worked tirelessly to provide for her family and maintain their home.
Once her children were grown, Joyce relocated to Florida to be near her parents and sister. There, she served as the office manager for the JFK Cardiac Rehab Center in Atlantis. It was in Florida that she met and married John Tuszl in 1993. Following John’s passing after 10 years together, Joyce retired and eventually moved to Mooresville, NC, to be closer to her daughter, Lori, and within driving distance of her sons, Joseph and James.
In retirement, Joyce discovered a hidden talent for oil painting. Her beautiful canvases became cherished gifts for family, friends and neighbors, serving as a lasting legacy of her creative spirit. A gifted cook, she took great joy in feeding those she loved and volunteered her time at the local soup kitchen. She will be long remembered for her warm smile, affectionate hugs and easy laugh. She had an uncanny ability to offer the perfect advice at just the right time, serving as a steadfast "emotional support friend" to many.
Joyce is survived by her children: Joseph (Debbie) Lidowski, Lori (John) Pappas, and James (Pam) Lidowski; her five grandchildren: Robert (Heather) Lidowski, Rhea Lidowski (Tim Sullivan), Zach Pappas, Greg (Isabelle) Pappas, and Tia Lidowski; and her three great-grandchildren: Joseph Hayden Lidowski, Lena Lidowski, and Holden Lidowski. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Koji; sisters-in-law, Barbara Codignotto and Holly Lidowski; and a large extended family of 22 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Lidowski; her second husband, John Tuszl; her brother, John Codignotto; and brothers-in-law, William Koji and Edward Lidowski.
The family will hold a private memorial service, at a date to be determined, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, where her cremated remains will be interned. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will follow at a later date.
