Born in Manhattan, John dedicated much of his life to Chatham, where he raised his family and became a beloved figure in the community. After retiring to Shallotte, he forged countless more friendships and created lasting memories. Known for his warm smile and willingness to lend a helping hand, he served as a volunteer fireman and was a true friend and neighbor to many.
Affectionately called “Red” and “Jack” by his closest companions, John treasured the countless memories he built over more than five decades in Chatham. While a student at Bayley-Ellard High School in Madison, he worked as a soda jerk at the Chatham Soda Shop—one of many jobs on his path to becoming a successful business owner.
John was also a devoted member and benefactor of both St. Patrick’s in Chatham and St. Brendan the Navigator in Shallotte. His generous spirit and unwavering commitment to those around him left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Aggie; his daughter, Linda; and his sons, David and Steven. John’s legacy of kindness and community will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. "
