John lived in the Charlotte area for the past 55 years. He met and married his wife, Barbara. Together they raised 2 sons, Jason (Eva) and Nathan (Jessica). His five grandchildren are Jackson, Perry, Leigh, Kaylee and Wade. John is also survived by two sisters, Carol (John) and Susan (Paul).
John Lee was so blessed to have had so many friends in his life. Each one of you are a special gift.
John Lee loved the outdoors. He grew up fishing, camping and hunting and found solace in the woods. That love was passed to his children and then to his grandchildren.
John played bass in the Wipeouts band starting in middle school and has remained friends with his other three bandmates. The band along with Ocean Isle and the “Bug” house remain to this day and important part of our family.
His fondest hobby was taking and developing pictures. This reflected in jobs he held. John worked for Biggs Camera, Qualex and PCA.
After suffering many years with Chronic Lyme, he vowed to help others fight the battle. John became the president of the NC chapter of National Capital Lyme Disease. Here he worked with County health departments, doctors and the NC State Epidemiologist. Events were held to educate the public for the prevention of Lyme. John hosted monthly support group meetings and helped many people.
Our family wants to give a very special thank you to the Hospice team that lovingly cared for John over 26 months. They became part of our family. What a blessing they have been not only to John but the entire family.
There is no service, but a memorial will be held at Ocean Island at a later date.
A memorial gift can be made to VIA Health Partners in honor of John Lee.
