Born in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Hubert Cecil Pamment and Thelma Jenny Pamment, Joan lived a life dedicated to helping others. She was known for her work in training and presenting on topics like pronunciation throughout the State of California. Although she missed her friends and life in San Francisco, she deeply cherished her work in Michigan.
Joan's legacy lives on through her son, who gave her three beloved grandchildren: Kendall, Jordan, Shelby, and Chelsea. She often expressed that they were blessed to grow up in her home.
Throughout her life, Joan was driven by a desire to help people. This passion was evident in her work as a consultant, counselor, and teacher. But perhaps the most personal aspect of her mission was her habit of opening her home to those in need. Early on, she began to collect people, offering them not just shelter, but a safe haven. One memorable day, a woman came into her office with a suitcase, saying she had nowhere to go. Joan invited her in, and this act of kindness became the start of many others. Over the years, Joan welcomed countless individuals into her home, some staying for a short time, others for much longer. She learned from each person and embraced the experiences, knowing that sometimes these connections were fleeting. She never minded when those she helped moved on with their lives, even if they lost touch.
One memorable instance was when a friend asked Joan to host his brother, who was coming from England. She ended up welcoming not just him, but all three of his brothers and a cousin, who stayed with her for a year or two. These experiences taught Joan to loosen her need for neatness and order in her home, but she never wavered in her commitment to help those in need.
Joan touched many lives, and in turn, they touched hers. As she moves on to the next step in her journey, she does so with faith in her connection to the Supreme Being, knowing her legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those she helped.
She leaves to cherish wonderful memories, one son Paul Pamment (Amber); one sister, Dottie Long; four grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
