Born on January 14, 1942, Ed lived a full and meaningful life defined by hard work, adventure, and deep love for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves and later worked various software engineering jobs prior to founding his company, Crowell Systems, where he built a legacy through dedication, leadership, and integrity.
Ed was married to his beloved wife, Sally Crowell, and together they built a life centered on family and shared experiences. He was a devoted husband, a proud father to William Crowell and Susan Crowell Burris, and a loving grandfather to Heather Whiteside, Hannah Crowell, and Rachel Crowell. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Addison Whiteside and Payton Whiteside. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family across generations.
He had a passion for traveling and especially cherished opportunities to explore the world through mission trips with his church. When he wasn’t traveling, Ed could often be found enjoying a peaceful day of fishing or watching NASCAR, one of his favorite pastimes. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his strong faith, and the love he shared so generously with those around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Central Church of God in Charlotte at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Central Church of God Mission Trip Fund, honoring Ed’s passion for travel and service through his church community.
Ed found strength and inspiration in his Faith and can be remembered through the following quote:
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
Ed’s legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
