A resident of Louisiana majority of her life, Diane was born in Kaplan, grew up Franklin and Lafayette, later lived in Lake Charles and Denham Springs, before residing in Indian Bayou for the last 35 years. Diane was a graduate of McNeese State University and was crowned homecoming queen in 1964.
She loved flowers, especially bromeliads and flowering plants, making pralines and candy for the holidays, canning, attending church, and collecting gemstones and rocks of all types. She was a teacher, coach, a social worker, wife, mother, a friend to all, and often she was the life of the party. Diane also watched out for the littlest and the least – she had a love for all people and never met a stranger.
Diane is survived by her daughters, Rachelle Brown and her family Michelle Jestes, Dama Elkins, and Ayden Elkins of Indian Bayou, LA; and Renee Brown and wife Kelly Gimlin, of Cornelius, NC; and one grandchild, Sydney Jolie Brown of Cornelius, NC; sister, Ann Primeaux of Indian Bayou, LA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald J. Brown; parents, Hampton and Louise Primeaux of Indian Bayou, LA.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rachel’s Seafood in Lafayette on July 21, 2018 off Kaliste Saloom Road from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. We welcome her friends and family to join and share photos, memories and funny stories as we toast to the life of Diane Brown.
