Deric Martin Green, affectionately known as Ric, Slick Ric, or Sparq the Producer, passed away on November 29, 2024, in Charlotte, NC. Born in Queens, New York, Deric graduated from Thomas Edison High School in 1988.
Growing up in a close-knit multi-generational Christian household, Deric attended church, served on the usher board, and became a Boy Scout. While participating in sports like many other youth in the area, Deric discovered a passion for music production and DJing. He shared a strong bond with his older cousin Darryl and his younger cousins, Russell and Desmond, whom he inspired to become a recording artist.
Deric possessed a vibrant personality, always eager to share his outrageous stories and unique sense of humor. A true Marvel enthusiast, one highlight of Deric's career in IT involved working directly for Marvel, the company. Derics skillset ranged from setting up phone networks for Louis Vuitton to engineering in major recording studios in New York City. His various roles reflected his avid interest in the latest technology, particularly in music. As he consistently pursued his creative passions and musical aspirations he found purpose.

His impact on the lives of others was profound, whether it was assisting friends with technical challenges, or editing music sessions. Dedication to his craft led him to Europe, where he had the honor of meeting and working with renowned musician John Mayer. Thanks to various artists and media platforms, Deric’s video and music productions, tutorials and footage lives on.
Beyond his achievements, Deric cherished his family and friendships. He served as the best man in his older cousin Darryl's wedding, a testament to their strong bond. Shortly thereafter, Deric found love with Denise. Their journey together began in Queens in 1990, followed by a move to Jersey City, NJ in 1991. They married on June 1st, 1994, and welcomed their first child, Daija, shortly before moving to Carteret, NJ in 1996. In 2002, their family grew with the arrival of their son, Donovan.
While their marriage eventually ended, Deric and Denise shared a lasting bond through their two beautiful children.
