Born on November 10, 1947, in Providence, Rhode Island, Allyn was the beloved son of the late James Phillip Cabral and Martina Varela. A devoted husband, he shared 22 wonderful years of marriage with Argelia Aguero Cabral, who remained faithfully by his side.
Allyn is survived by his loving sister, Cecilia Joana Bessett; his children, Aaliyah M. Cabral, Allyn David Cabral Jr., Stephen Cabral, and Kimberly Cabral; and his cherished grandchildren, Jade Cabral, Saige Cabral, Benjamin Cabral, and Jordan Cabral. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends who will continue to honor his memory.
A man of quiet strength, deep loyalty, and unwavering dedication, Allyn devoted his life to providing for his family and helping others. He spent 21 years with UPS, rising through the ranks in management within the transportation division. He not only oversaw operations but also mentored new drivers and even drove semi-trucks himself. In one memorable example of his commitment, Allyn once delivered packages using his personal vehicle on Christmas Day to ensure they reached their destinations on time—just one of many acts that spoke to his selflessness and heart.
After retiring from UPS, Allyn continued his journey behind the wheel as a motor coach driver for Greyhound, Rose Transportation, Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His love for the open road and passion for travel made each mile a meaningful one.
Above all else, Allyn was a family man—steadfast, loving, and always present. His legacy is one of kindness, responsibility, and quiet heroism. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral mass for Allyn will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, 1400 Suther Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28213.
