Alan i miss you! My cats miss you especially Kyrie! Wish i’d paid better attention to how you seasoned the shrimp when you grilled them. Have a real craving for your grilled shrimp. Tried it at several places but none are as good as Chef Alan made! Say hello to Bonnie & Walter for me! See in a few years!

Alan was a respected colleague of mine in the 80s and 90s. He was always quick witted with his responses to my questions but always helped me find the true solution. He loved his girls and animals. He had his demons that unfortunately changed his life’s path. I know you’re at peace now Alan, and I hope the family finds comfort in that. RIP my friend. 

Alan was a buddy of mine when we were at Reynolds High School. He had such a great smile. I'm so sorry to hear about his passing. My prayers are with the family.

I was very sorry to hear that Alan had passed. I hadn’t seen him in over 20 years and will never forget the many good memories we had while working together.  The Alan that I remember was very intelligent, witty and fun to work and hangout with. RIP Alan. 

Alan was a great conversationalist, a giver and listener.  When he worked at BAE Systems he had an inner fountain of  joy when talking to folks. Those folks were imparted with a positivity of whom I  hope spread that joy to other folks. He directly affected 1,000s and indirectly 10,000s.

He carried a heavy burden with him but after interacting with him you would have never known.

He loved to cook for others steak and shrimp with Rosemary and explore philosophy and deep thoughts. 

He spoke of his family lovingly, he had regrets, but ultimately he was exceptionally proud of what they were  doing and where they were in life.  He felt they will graduate life with honor and without regret.

He left a ripple through time and space. He will be missed.












I was a friend & caretaker of Alan for years. I wish i had a picture i could share of Alan from the last several years. Seems that when we were together it was all about cooking and eating. Playing with all my cats or enjoying the deer & raccoons out back. He loved cats and when he grilled out he often fed more to the cats than he ate! He loved his girls, cats & grilling out along with soccer. Anytime he saw someone with twins he had to tell them about his girls. Unfortunately he loved drinking more than 
anything. He was fun to be around until he had too 
much. Always full of life and gratitude. He never 
was able to teach me to whistle. I envied that 
ability! I was ok with acorn cap whistles he taught me but those are too shrill for my ears. I will miss his crazy sense of humor & his grilling. I need to grill some shrimp  &  pork chops with rosemary in memory of Alan. I didn’t think  we’d loose him this soon. There is a piece of me missing now. He is now pain free at long last. I know seeing his parents and Bonnie again will make him joyful! And if cats go to heaven he will happy to play with all the ones he lost over the years. 

So very sorry for your loss Dad, I know you loved Alan through thick and thin; you were always there for him. We are praying for his peace now, and for comfort for everyone during this difficult time.

During our childhood in Asheville, North Carolina, Alan was the little brother (almost 9 years younger) asking questions and wanting to be involved in many of the things I was doing.  He loved to hang around the ballfield during practice or games and swimming was one of his favorite activities.

Shortly after school, Alan was hired by our computer business to put computers together.  He soon learned to be a technician and offered hardware and software support to our customers.  He later became the manager of our Technical Department and was an important asset for many years.

If you knew Alan, you knew his wife and daughters were by far the most important people in his life.  After his family, his cats were next on his list of importance.  Of course, his Ford Mustang SVO was not far behind the cats.

Alan was kind enough to sometimes watch our house when we were on trips. He would help with feeding the chickens, watering the plants, and being sure everything was in order.  Many times he would stay after dark to sit on the deck to watch the shooting stars!  

Later in Alan’s life, he was controlled by his alcoholism.  I am sad that his life could not have been better and much longer.  I will forever miss his smile, witty remarks, and caring friendship.
