Sally Ann Holt, age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior during her night's rest on Monday, May 12, 2025. Sally was born with her twin brother, Richard, on 27 October,1940 in Queens, NY to the late Arnold and Helen (Geilsdorfer) Holt. She is survived by her 2 nephews, Tim Holt, Jeff Holt and their families, her sister-in-law Rosemary Holt and her cousin Anita Andresen and her family.
After Sally's mother died, Pop moved the family to Florida. Upon graduation from Florida State University, Sally served 4 years in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, was discharged from active duty as a LT Nurse Corps and moved to California. She earned her MSN and began her work as head nurse at St Rose Hospital ICU/CCU, where she enjoyed 35 years employment. In 2005 she retired from a 43 year critical care nursing career.
Sally loved Bible study Q&A sessions. She volunteered in the 3Crosses Church Bible study Challengers class, Mission Center host-assist, First Aid Team, CrossStreets food pantry, church outreach musical ticket sales, and in Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift collection centers. For 12 years, Sally served as team captain in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, helping in fundraising and supporting cancer victims. She also volunteered on the Citizens’ Advisory Committee of Hayward Area Recreation and Parks District to help create Hayward’s first official dog park. For the last few years, Sally shared a daily morning devotional and hymn via email with people dealing with a medical issue.
Although she loved hymns, Sally has said she was not blessed in the life past with a singing voice. But we know she is now with her Good Shepherd “in green pastures” singing His praises.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 1100 on Friday, 20 June at 3Crosses Church, 20600 John Drive, Castro Valley, CA 94546
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sally's favorite charity, www.360Serve.org
