Richard Allen Stevens of Castro Valley, CA passed away on Saturday, February 14th, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on February 9th, 1943, at Peralta Hospital in Oakland, CA. He started life in Berkeley but at a young age the family moved to Santa Cruz, CA. After a few years in Santa Cruz the family moved to San Lorenzo, CA then finally to Ashland, CA where he was living when he graduated from San Lorenzo High School in 1960. During his youth, Richard spent many years in the Boy Scouts, and started his love of music by playing the trumpet and French horn in school.
Following high school, Richard attended San Mateo Junior College where he met Sharon Fisher soon to be Sharon Stevens, as they were married November 3rd, 1962. Shortly after, he started the carpenter's apprenticeship program and became a journeyman carpenter in February 1967. In 1963 they welcomed their son Richard, and in 1964 their daughter Cathleen. After many years in the construction trade the hard work was taking its toll, and in the late 80s/early 90s it was time to start looking for a different job. Having been involved with working on cars as a hobby since high school, Richard found work as an automotive parts counterperson at Pep Boys, AutoZone and finally retiring from Monument Auto Parts in Livermore, CA.
Richard and Sharon were actively involved in the NorCal Mini Club, and he was a lifelong member of the NRA. An accomplished guitarist, Richard continued his love of music throughout his adult years.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Stevens, son Richard (Patricia) Stevens, daughter Cathleen (Vic) deOrnelas, brother Kenneth Stevens, in addition to brother and sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and other extended family.
