Joanne married Ernest William Salmi, Jr. on March 20, 1982 (and later divorced in 2011). They had two children together: Michael Toivo Salmi (October 31, 1985) and Laura Marie Salmi (April
6, 1989). She moved from California to Illinois in 1986, to Georgia in 1991, and back to
California in 2005.

became a compassionate cat rescue volunteer and fostered several litters of kittens for the Tri-Valley Animal Rescue group. She was exceptionally organized and had a gift for making her
home the neighborhood's social hub, always open to neighbors and kids. She enjoyed puzzles,
reading, crosswords, needlepoint, and crafted dozens of projects including costumes, quilts, clothes, and dolls. Above all she was a beloved mom. She is survived by her son, Michael, her daughter, Laura, grandchildren Darren and Alice, and her brother Rick. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Jeanne Hull, and sister
Patricia Rusch.
A celebration of life will take place on February 27 at Good Morning Maxwell from 4-7pm, 1850
