Retired CW3 William “Bill” Heath passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the age of 76.
Professionally, Bill served during the Cold War in the 730th Military Intelligence Battalion as part of his 20-year tenure in the U.S. Army. He also performed as part of the European Soldiers Chorus. As a civilian, he worked in management consulting and later operated his own small business.
His most important role was serving his family as a loving father and husband. Married 53 years to wife Linda, he stole her heart when she stole his shoes. He was her biggest cheerleader, helped her to grow outside her comfort zone and introduced her to countries and cultures she would never have otherwise experienced. As a father to two daughters, he was the best bedtime storyteller to Princesses Cindy and Terri, a tough math tutor, a trusted lifetime counselor and an indulgent parent who always gave in to his girls’ pleas for a cat despite his severe allergies.
Born in, Maryland, Bill earned a degree in Music from Frostburg State University. He was a talented pianist and vocalist who enjoyed performing Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”
In retirement he enjoyed watching crime TV, analyzing politics, blogging, reading, dining on Sonic hot dogs and onion rings and entertaining his family with his dry sense of humor.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Heath, daughter, Cindy Hunt and son-in-law Wade, and sister, Patti Beegle. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Terri, parents, Doug and Frances, and brother-in-law David.
Services will be held at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bill’s memory to the Army Emergency Relief Fund or Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation.
