

PERRY WINSTON OGLETREE of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the age of 74. He was born November 10, 1950, in Mobile, Alabama, spending his early years in Mobile, Gadsden and Huntsville, AL.
Perry graduated from Huntsville High School in 1969, attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham - School of Allied Health. Upon completion, he was asked to join their faculty as an instructor of Biomedical Engineering. He later worked for General Electric X-Ray Systems before joining the Biomedical Engineering Department at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham. After transferring to the VA Medical Center in Houston, TX, he transitioned from a Biomedical Engineering Technician into a Computer Specialist with the Information Resources Management Department. In 1988, he accepted promotion to Chief of Information Management at the VA Medical Center in in Columbia, Missouri. He was medically retired in 1993, becoming a stay-at-home dad.
Perry was actively involved in working with the Military Auxiliary Radio Systems [MARS], learning to use a 3D printer, maintaining a large vegetable garden, and corralling two rambunctious Pomeranian pups. For several years, Perry work with local school rocketry teams encouraging the students to pursue careers in science, technology and computers. In his spare time, Perry loved to grill, to travel, to attend concerts and craft fairs, but most importantly loved being with his family.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Melba Perry and father, Thomas Winston Ogletree. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wanda Wyatt, his sons Daniel Wyatt Ogletree and James Winston Ogletree [husband, Drew Seibert], as well as extended family.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Ascension St. Thomas Medical Center for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days. Everyone from the various physicians, nurses, technicians, dietitians, housekeeping and maintenance are to be commended and we are forever grateful to them.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life to be held at 707 W. Main Street [Austin Audio Visual Design, Inc.], Murfreesboro, TN 37129 on Saturday October 11, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
