Patrick Eugene Hopkins of Nashville Tennessee passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2025 at the age of 80. Pat was born September 27, 1944 in the state of Indiana. With a father in the oil business, Pat grew up in several interesting parts of the world including Columbia, South America. A graduate of Western Kentucky University with a degree in chemistry, Pat worked 49 years for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Among his many accomplishments there, was the initiation and development of the first dialysis unit for veterans. Pat also was a co-founder of RMTI, a company that supplied dialysis solution to area clinics.
He was a Boy Scout leader as well as coached youth baseball. Pat was an avid deer hunter and ironically loved feeding and watching the deer in their backyard in his later years. Pat also had a love of history and could recite virtually any detail of any war or military conflict, making him a vital member on any Trivial Pursuit team. Pat it survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanne Hopkins, son, Jonathan Hopkins, stepson Brick Sturgeon, brother Robert Hopkins and niece, Mary Katherine Wendell. Grandchildren Marshall Hopkins, Calvin Hopkins, Savannah Carreno, Emma Sturgeon, Grace Sturgeon, Shelby Debettencourt, Savannah Debettencourt and great grandchild Bram Carreno.
