Nancy Ann Hood Good was raised in St Petersburg, Florida and began her married life on a ranch in Pampa, Texas in 1950. In the years which followed, she lived successfully in New Orleans, Louisiana, Clearwater, Florida and Milledgeville, Georgia before spending her final years in Nashville, Tennessee.
In the 1960’s, while living in Florida, she became an avid sailor. She received training in navigation from the Coast Guard and crewed on innumerable ocean races with her first husband, B.J. Hood on sailboats named The Hoodwink and The Hoodwink ll. In 1967 she and a small group of friends in Clearwater formed a women’s sailing club which they named The Windlasses. At the present time, The Windlasses number greater than 100 members and draw membership from the entire Tampa Bay community.
Nancy Ann was a gifted and knowledgeable gourmet cook who participated in multiple international food and wine organizations including serving as an officer in the Chaine des Rotisseurs.
She was an enthusiastic world traveler whose final geographic adventure was a trip to the Norwegian fjords undertaken in her eighties.
Nancy Ann is pre-deceasedby two husbands-B.J. Hood and Hugh D. Good. She is survived by her son and daughter-Rob Reid Hood(Kathy) and Melissa Hood Poland, grandsons J. Alexander Hood ll(Nora), Nicholas Hood(Corrine),Schiller Reid Poland(Kristin), granddaughter Amanda Poland Mortimore(William), great granddaughters Braelyn Mortimore, Vivian Rose Hood and great grandson Terry Poland.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary or Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
