Louis Martin Symoens passed away on October 16, 2023. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin on April 23, 1942. Mr. Symoens served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. Lou was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and mentor to his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel Symoens and his sons, Cory (Gunilla) Symoens; Tracy (Wendy) Symoens; and Jeff (Cristina) Symoens, as well as his stepsons, Daniel and Matthew Harvey; numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Marie Symoens, along with his brothers, George and Russell Symoens. Surviving siblings are Gary, Gene, Paul, and Darlene Symoens.
Over his lifetime, Lou had several careers including satellite communication specialist and systems engineer. He was recognized by both Intertel and Mensa for his notable high IQ accomplishments.
For more than 4 decades, he was actively involved in the recovery field and has helped hundreds of people across the United States in their journey to recovery. He was known to many as a guiding mentor who spoke the message of recovery with honesty, integrity, love and compassion. Through his own transformation, he made it his life’s mission to encourage others to find freedom and sobriety.
While battling terminal health conditions, Lou continued to inspire the people he came in contact with, including his health care providers.
A Celebration of lLfe will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2pm at Full Gospel Tabernacle, 1027 Carthage Hwy, Lebanon, TN, 37087. The service will be officiated by his son, Bro. Tracy Symoens.
