John Patrick Grimes Jr.

Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of two realtors, John Patrick Grimes of Nashville, TN and Susan Proby Grimes from Grenada, MS. John built a thriving landscaping business that brought beauty to countless homes and neighborhoods. He took immense pride in his work, finding joy in nature and the satisfaction of creating something lasting.

John’s love for the outdoors extended beyond his career. He could often be found kayaking along rivers and lakes, where he felt most at peace. Whether navigating quiet waters or spending time under open skies, John cherished every moment surrounded by nature.

Of all his accomplishments, John was most proud of his family. He often spoke lovingly of his son, Sean Grimes, whose achievements filled him with immeasurable pride. John is survived by his son Sean P Grimes, granddaughter Eileen Grimes, and his daughter-in-law, Phanith Grimes. As well as his sister Marybelle Grimes Hardin of Baton Rouge, LA.

John’s legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched and the natural beauty he left behind. His family, friends, and community will remember him for his kind spirit, unwavering dedication, and love for life’s simple pleasures.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on February 28, 2025, at 1:00 at St Anns Church, 5101 Charlotte Ave, Nashville, TN 37209. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to TSRA at https://paddletsra.org/donate honoring John’s passion for nature and the outdoors.
