Irene was born on November 16, 1948, in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, to Paul J. Joyce and Marie O'Neil Joyce. She grew up in Brooklyn and later made her home in Ronkonkoma, New York, before relocating with her family to Nolensville, Tennessee, in 1987.
In 1970, Irene married the love of her life, Raymond A. Jaworski. In over 50 years of marriage, they built a life centered around family, faith, and love. Irene was a devoted wife and mother whose family was always at the heart of everything she did.
Irene is survived by her children, Jeff D. Jaworski (Akin) of Nolensville, Tennessee, and Laura Jaworski Shaw of Nashville, Tennessee. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Brandon D. Jaworski of Tampa, Florida; Gavin Shaw of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Madelyn J. Smith (Chance) of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, and Katelyn Shaw of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
She is also survived by her brother, Paul D. Joyce(Mary). Her Catholic faith was an important part of Irene's life. She was a devoted parishioner of Mother Teresa Catholic Church, where her faith and connection to her church community brought her comfort, strength, and fellowship. Irene had a special place in her heart for animals, and her beloved dog, Angus, was a cherished companion and an important part of her family. Angus brought Irene countless moments of happiness and unconditional love. She liked to say, “they saved each other!” Above all, Irene will be remembered for the love and laughter she brought into every room she walked into. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she shared will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with Ray and surrounded forever by the love she gave so freely to others.
