Helen Ann Leaver

Helen Ann Leaver, age 83, of Nashville, departed this life on August 30, 2023. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on September 9, 1939 to the late, Wesley Joseph Leaver and Margaret Elizabeth nee` Ayers Leaver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Nell Marie nee` Leaver Buchanan, Mary Jude nee` Leaver Southerland and John Thomas Leaver; nephew, Joseph Tully “Buster” Buchanan; great-nephew, John Bradly Fulcher, IV.

Helen is survived by, a host of beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great- great nieces and nephews; her cherished best friend of 55 years, Frances Dooley and all who loved her.

Helen graduated from Cathedral High School in 1957. She took a job with American General (formerly National Life and Accident Insurance Company) and retired after 44 years. After retirement, she spent the next 21 years working with children, volunteering at church, taking care of family and friends and attending the sporting events of her many nieces and nephews.

Helen was known as “Aunt Helen” by everyone. She was a truly driven woman, who was always on the go: hop in the car and drive across town, singing in the church choir, decorating her yard and home for the holidays and cheering for her favorite sports teams.

Helen was a lifelong member of Saint Edward Catholic Church in Nashville, where she laid the cornerstone as it was being built. She worked at Saint Edward School aftercare program up until her last days.

She was a truly selfless woman who was loved by many and will be missed beyond measure.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m on September 30,2023, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m at Saint Edward Catholic Church, 188 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37211.
