Frank Otto Fox, Jr. of Lebanon, Tennessee, departed this life suddenly on February 5, 2023 at the age of 69. He was born June 30, 1953 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Frank Otto Fox, Sr., Ann C. Billik Fox.
Frank was a proud alumnus of the University of Georgia, where he played football under Vince Dooley before suffering a back injury that ended his football career.
He was also a Retail Real Estate purchaser for GENESCO (formally General Shoe Company) for 30 years before his retirement in 2019.
Most people would describe him as larger than life. His presence will be missed greatly, but his love and legacy will carry on within countless people who loved him. Frank invested himself fully in every endeavor from his career to his relationships and his many hobbies. If you ever met him during football season, you were most likely greeted with an exuberant “Go Dawgs!” He was thrilled to be able to see the UGA Bulldogs win back-to-back National Championships.
Speaking of dogs, Frank was a lover of all canines. He always had one of his “good boys” curled up next to him on the couch or riding shotgun around the farm, where he could often be found working on any random project with his dear friend, Brandon Ambrose. Other favorite past times included golf, bonsai, hunting, shooting, and beekeeping. When he wasn’t communing with nature, he enjoyed painting, reading, and spent countless hours with his church families at Westland UMC and Cooks UMC in bible studies, men’s groups, and choirs.
In recent years, Frank and Paula loved traveling to Savannah and Tybee Island, GA, where they spent time entertaining friends and family at their vacation home and enjoying the slower pace of life on the beach.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Paula Jo Gomer Fox of Lebanon, step-mother Mary Bob Fox of Gainesville, GA, brothers Tom (Gloria) Fox of NJ, and Tim (Joe) Fox of Taipei, Taiwan, children Mary Jo (Adam) Weaver of Nashville and Jim (Megan) Kilzer of Lebanon and three beloved grandchildren.
Per Frank’s request, a celebration of life party will be held with family and friends in the following weeks.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to your local Humane Society.
