I met Debbie, as she was known then, in the gym at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School. We were in the 8th grade. I heard her laugh & just walked over and joined her and her friend Lou. That great laugh was filled with mischief and so contagious! She had such a cool sense of style and wore cutting edge stylish clothes. Her self confidence and bravado was often punctuated with tender kindness. She was so brave and adventurous! We had a lot of fun and were lucky that things never went completely south on us. Condolences to her family, especially her loving sister Lisa.

Debra Lowe Boyd (later known as Brie) was one of my closest friends. She was one of four of us who have remained friends since before high school. We met in the seventh grade at North Cross School in Roanoke, VA. We had an instant connection, and our adventures began almost immediately.  

We made up our own sign language so we could communicate in class. I talked her into skipping school one day because I hadn’t done my geometry homework. As a result, we were suspended for an entire week!  To say that we were in deep trouble would be an understatement.  

I have dozens of stories about the two of us getting into trouble like that – never serious trouble, mind you. But trouble, anyway.  

Debra had an infectious and quick laugh. If either of us started laughing, the other joined right in, too. It didn’t matter that one of us didn’t know what was so funny. The joy was in the sharing of the laughter.  

She was scarily smart and had a strong opinion on virtually everything, but she was easy-going, too. She was almost ALWAYS in a good mood. I loved her so much and I still do. Tears stream down my face as I write this, but I can hear her laughing with me as I read it to my husband.  I will miss her so. 

Our deepest condolences to her husband, Sean Klimeck, her sister, Lisa Lowe, and brother, Craig Lowe, all of Nashville.

Debo...you will be greatly missed by family and friends.  You were a unique woman that always brought a smile to the faces of people around you.  Glad I knew you!
