David Lynn Dalton, age 69, went to be with our Lord peacefully at home in Spring Hill, TN, on December 17, 2017, following a battle with adrenal cancer. David was born January 22, 1948, in Bowling Green, KY, to the late James Ellis Dalton and Earline Hanna Dalton Filmore. He graduated from Hendersonville High School, Hendersonville, TN, in 1966, and joined the Army in January 1967. David served four years active duty, including a tour in Vietnam, where he earned the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Upon David’s return to civilian life, his career was in the construction industry. David is survived by his son, Chris Dalton and wife Tara of Smyrna, TN; son Tim Dalton and wife Joyell of Greenbrier, TN; daughter Lindsey Dalton Hollingsworth of Spring Hill, TN; brother Terry Dalton and wife Linda of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren: Baylee and Kenlee Dalton; Darnell, Savannah, Elizabeth and Caroline Dalton; and Autumn Hollingsworth; and nephew Brian Dalton and wife Cara of Charlotte, NC; nephew Jason Dalton and wife Christie of Reidsville, NC; and niece Shelley Wilfong and husband Shawn of Charlotte, NC. David was preceded in death by his young son, Andy Wayne Dalton; his infant daughter, Lesley Michelle Dalton; and his sister, Melinda Dalton Carson, of Nashville, TN. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Team, especially David’s amazing and loving oncologist, Dr. Jill Gilbert, and to Alive Hospice. A memorial service with military honors will be held on December 28th at 11:00am at the Providence Chapel, 8251 Greenbrier Road, Joelton, TN.
