January 13th 1947-October 5, 2023
Christine was born in Philadelphia, PA to her parents Louis and Nancy Gruninger, she was the oldest of three children. She grew up in Middlebush, NJ.
Christine was the Captain of the Cheerleading team at her high school. She loved cheering with her good friends, this brought her a lot of joy. She was voted “Most Popular” and “Cutest” by her senior class. Christine met her soulmate Thomas when they were in high school. Christine and Thomas went to their junior and senior proms together. They got married when Christine was 18 and remained married their entire lives.
After high school Christine attended professional secretarial school in Manhattan, NY. She was quickly hired by Sears upon graduation as the assistant fashion buyer for women’s swimwear. Just one year later she and her husband Thomas found out they were expecting their only daughter Gina. They had her christened in the same church where they were married in New Brunswick, NJ, and later watched with pride having their daughter’s confirmation there too. Christine was both the Brownie and Girl Scout leader for Gina’s troops and they loved doing this together during the elementary school years.
Christine and Thomas traveled all over the world. Two of their favorite trips were to Perugia Italy and Budapest Hungary. Every summer they got a beach house in Point Pleasant NJ and loved walking the boardwalk, riding all the rides, playing the wheels (they always won a giant stuffed animal of some kind) and eating sausage sandwiches. Family summers at the beach became a tradition until Gina graduated high school and they moved to Palm Beach Florida for many years.
Christine raised two very lucky Pug Dogs, named Maximillion and Sampson. They both lived to be 20 years old. She and her beloved Pugs were featured in Pug magazine several times often wearing matching sweaters (all 3 of them) Max and Sam were a great source of happiness to her and she loved taking them for walks every night and making them special foods.
Later in life Christine and her beloved husband Thomas settled in Franklin, TN to be near Gina and their beloved granddaughters Ruby Joy and Sophie Grace Ketchum. They loved taking the girls out for ice cream, taking drives in one of their MANY different cars they had, and eating great pizza.
A long and beautiful life surrounded by love, Christine loved chocolate cupcakes, a great mystery novel, bird watching and The Beatles.
