Charlie met the love of his life, Ann, his freshman year of high school. They married in 1949 and celebrated 71 glorious years together. Throughout Charlie’s entire life he remained committed to his family, church and community. Charlie had an unwavering faith in God and was a most loving father and Christian example for his family and all who knew him.
Charlie was a three time All-Nashville pitcher/outfielder out of Central High School. After graduation he signed a baseball contract with the Nashville Vols as a pitcher. He was inducted into the Nashville Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.
Many of his happiest times were spent fishing with his son, grandchildren and friends. He was also an avid Tennessee Vols sports fan. During football season you could hear him shouting “Go Big Orange!”
Along with his wife Ann, Charlie leaves behind the most beautiful legacy and will be greatly missed. His family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with the love of his life in heaven. There will be a family Celebration of Life service later this month. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation can be made to New Vision Baptist Church, 1750 N. Thompson Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 in his honor.
