On Saturday, June 3, 2023, Charles (Chuck) Harvey Cockerham, age 81, said his goodbyes to his earthly home to enter the Pearly Gates. He was born on April 30, 1942, in his parents’ home in Monroe City, Indiana, to Nesbeth J. S. Cockerham and Bertha V. S. LaMar Cockerham. He was welcomed into the family by two brothers and six sisters.
Chuck graduated from Monroe City High School in 1960. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He then attended Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA. He later moved to San Jose, CA and worked as a janitor for Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, CA while attending college. Upon completing his degree in Computer Science, he was hired by Lockheed Martin as a computer system analyst. He worked there until his retirement.
While working at Lockheed, he met his loving wife of 54 years, Charlotte Norton McBeen Cockerham.
Chuck and Charlotte lived in Fremont, CA for many years. They moved to Mount Juliet, TN in 2022 to be near their daughter, Brenda, who has been their loving caregiver. Since moving, they have attended Providence Church in Mount Juliet.
In addition to his love for family, Chuck loved to play golf.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Bonny Schleicher, a brother, Major William Cockerham USAF Retired, sisters, Betty Goldman, Barbara Henshaw, Nina Senevey and Phyllis Fuelling.
He is survived by his children, Brenda Allen (Rick), Barry McBeen, Brian McBeen (Beth), Craig Cockerham, son-in-law Curt Schleicher, five grandchildren, Ricky Allen (Bronnie), Kristy Ewton (Reece), Tara Ledford (Jon), Lindy McCall (Ben), Karin Fuellenbach (Brad). He also leaves 15 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. In addition, he is survived by a brother, Ed Cockerham (Lucy), two sisters, Ellen Small and Georgia McDaniel (Stan) plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be announced later.
Arrangements are being made through the Neptune Society in Nashville, Tennessee.
