Carol Sledge Kerr

Carol Dawn Sledge Kerr, 81, of Brentwood, TN, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, surrounded by the people who loved her. She was born on January 24, 1945, in Nashville to George and Laura Sledge.

Carol lived a beautiful and full life. She was a loving Mom, Nana, teacher, librarian, sister, cheerleader, and friend. She gave her whole heart to everything she did and was known for her strength, determination, and love for her family.

Carol was a devoted member of Brentwood United Methodist Church for more than 45 years. She especially loved being a part of the Joyful Noise Sunday School class and treasured the friendships she made there.

Carol is survived by her sons, Chip (Kristi) Kerr and David (Anne Marie) Kerr; her brother, George (Billie) Sledge; her sisters, Brenda (Cliff) Johnson and Rita (Tommy) Locke; her sister-in-law, Carol Sledge; her grandchildren, Chase Kerr, Tyler Kerr, Ryan Kerr, and Madeline Kerr; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Mike Sledge, to whom she selflessly donated a kidney in 1999.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Gentiva Hospice and Morning Pointe Assisted Living for the love, care, and compassion they gave Carol.

The family will receive guests at 12:00 PM, with the service beginning at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 15, at the Brentwood United Methodist Church Sanctuary in Brentwood, TN.

The Joyful Noise Sunday School class will service as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in Carol's honor to the Brentwood United Methodist Church Foundation. Checks may be made payable to BUMC Foundation, with "Joyful Noise – Carol Kerr Memorial" in the memo line, and mailed to 309 Franklin Road, Brentwood, TN 37027.
