Carles Oliver Wisener Jr. of Waverly, TN, passed away on January 7, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on October 27, 1945, in Sargent, Georgia, where he began a journey that would leave an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Carles devoted 35 years of service to the State of Tennessee, dedicating himself to his work with humility, diligence, and an unwavering sense of responsibility. For more than 20 of those years, he served as an Accounting Auditor, earning not just respect but admiration from his colleagues. His life’s work was a reflection of his character: honest, meticulous, and always striving for excellence.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Carles served his country with quiet strength and unshakable courage. His time in service instilled in him a deep sense of duty and sacrifice, qualities that shaped every facet of his life.
Yet, Carles was so much more than his career and his service. He was a man of profound faith—a faith that wasn’t static but grew and deepened as he walked through life. Each step brought lessons, and through those lessons, he became a better, kinder, and more compassionate man. His Primitive Baptist church and the study of the Bible were his anchor, his compass, and his source of peace. His faith didn’t just guide him—it transformed him, enriching the lives of everyone around him with its light.
At the heart of Carles’s life was his family. His greatest joy was the laughter and warmth shared at family gatherings, where he brought everyone together with his wit, gentle humor, and undeniable love. For Carles, it was never about the grand gestures but the quiet moments—the sound of his children’s voices, the joy of their stories, and the simple pleasure of being surrounded by those he loved most. He didn’t just attend family events; he filled them with life, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Carles had a rare gift: he made people feel seen, valued, and loved. His kindness was the kind that stayed with you, the kind you carried home in your heart. He didn’t just leave a legacy—he left a void, one that will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Carles is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Florence Alice Coalson Fetter, his sister, Anna Marie Fetter and his aunt and uncle, Peggy & Robert Coalson, who I am sure welcomed him home with open arms.
Carles is survived by his children, Sherry Nanette Wisener Wade, Melisa Alice Wisener Brasfield (Randy), and Joseph MacJason Wisener; his grandchildren, Trinity Dane Wade, Ethan Lennon Wade, Ace Von Carroll, Haily Jordain Brown, Heather Lynne Brown and Hannah Renee’ Brown who will carry forward the love, lessons, and faith he instilled in them
Though he is gone from this earth, his spirit lives on in the stories he shared, the love he gave, and the lives he touched. For those who knew him, his memory is not a goodbye but a promise—a promise that his kindness, his faith, and his love will never fade.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Buffalo Primitive Baptist Church, Bodine Loop at Cuba Landing Rd. Hurricane Mills, TN. 37078
