

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl O’Brien, who left us on 2/24/2026 at the VA Hospital in Nashville, TN due to complications from cancer. He was born on 4/20/1940 in Logan, West Virginia to Everett O’Bryan and Bertha Goodwill.
Carl served in the US Army from 1957 to 1961 and worked in the trucking industry for over 30 years. He enjoyed over 30 years of retirement. He loved the outdoors, decorating his home for Christmas and keeping the vehicles he owned spotless.
He was a beloved husband/parent/grandparent, touching the lives of many with his warmth, kindness, and a great sense of humor.
Carl is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue Ann O’Brien, his daughters, Karen Koura of Stockton, Ill, Cindy Gregory and husband Gary of Lebanon, TN, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, who will cherish his memory and continue his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Carl’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial celebration of his life at a later date for family and friends.
In honor of Carl’s memory and our commitment to finding a cure for cancer, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
May Carl’s soul rest in eternal peace.
