Arnie was a member of the Nashville Music Scene since 1969. He was known as "Good Guy Arnie," to many of the business people & artists on Music Row, because of his congenial nature, and upbeat personality. He was generous to a fault, with both his money, and his time. He loved to sing, to entertain, and to sail. He once told us that his biggest regret was selling the sailboat. Arnie loved people. Our regret is that in the last couple of years he didn't get out much to see the many good friends he had. He got frail at the end, and travel wasn't easy, so, he lost touch with some of you. But he had a good life, doing what he loved, and he knew & was appreciative of the fact. Many of you knew him from the bands he sang with, the plays he put on for his church, the dealings he had in the music industry. We knew him as a father whom we loved.
Arnold is survived by all 5 of his children: Karen Boyd, Elaine D. Barry, David H. Thies, Janet E. Webster, and Brett A. Thies. He also had 5 grandchildren: Chris, S. Alaric, Chandra, Brittney and Brandon; and finally he had 5 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Courtney, Ariahna, Ellis and Eden. While his second wife Anne pre-deceased him, his first wife, Gilda, and the mother of his children, survives.
