Alice Ruth Korey, 90, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy that will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Alice graduated from Langley High School before earning her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She began her career as a high school business teacher, where she inspired and encouraged her students. Later, she continued her professional career working with the Tennessee Receivership in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Alice was the devoted wife of Thomas “Tom” Korey, with whom she shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and unwavering love.
She had a passion for cooking, enjoyed many years of playing tennis, and found her greatest happiness in bringing joy to others. To everyone who knew her, Alice was simply the sweetest person you could ever meet. She had a remarkable gift for making people laugh, feel welcome, and leave with a smile. One of her most endearing traditions was carrying chocolates in her purse so she could offer one to a stranger, believing that even the smallest act of kindness could brighten someone’s day. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and genuine warmth made a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom, and her cherished daughter, Mary Beth.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Amy Jo Burns, and son-in-law, Bill Burns; her grandchildren, Nicholas Burns, Colby Burns, Marissa Burns, and Kristin Burns; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Burns and Kash Emmert. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Alice’s remarkable life on Saturday, August 15, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., at:
1101 Stanford Drive
Franklin, TN 37067
Alice taught us that kindness costs nothing but means everything. Her life was a beautiful example of compassion, generosity, and love. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in every smile shared, every laugh enjoyed, and every small act of kindness offered in her memory.
