Albert “Al” Orland Knox passed away on April 15, 2023 in the care of Alive Hospice at the age of 78. Al was born on December 15, 1944 to George Phillip Knox II and Elbertine (Otto, Knox) Clark in Shreveport, LA. Al was raised in Bossier City and Shreveport by his grandmother Minnie Mae (Covington, Otto) Simpson and Spencer “Bepaw” Simpson. After his graduation from Bossier High School, Al joined the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1963 to 1967 as a cook on the USS Oklahoma City. While on leave during his term in the Navy he met Theresa “Teri” Beth Anderson.
When his term in the Navy ended, Al returned to Bossier City, grabbed Teri and headed for Chattanooga, TN to meet the other part of his family and marry the love of his life. While in Chattanooga Al obtained his pilot's license for small aircraft. In 1972, Al, Teri and their young daughter moved back to Bossier City, LA. While living in the Bossier City and Shreveport area Al and Teri had a son and another daughter. In 1987 the family moved to New Britain, CT. In 1989, Al and Teri moved to upstate New York and later returned to Mt Juliet, TN in 1996 where they finally settled down.
Working in construction while his children were growing up kept food on the table. After moving to Mt Juliet, Al was able to secure a job as a handyman and did such beautiful customized work that he had many repeat requests for his services. Al never met a stranger and was loved by everyone that knew him. He could spin a yarn and keep you laughing throughout the entire story. He laughed with his whole soul and that laugh could be heard from anywhere in the room.
Beloved son, father, husband, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, Al will be missed by all that knew him. Al is predeceased by his parents and brother Glenn Willard Knox.
Al leaves behind a large family including his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Theresa Beth (Anderson) Knox. Brothers: Roy Clark of Texas; Hobby Dee Clark of Texas; George Phillip Knox III of Michigan. Sisters: Joyce (Knox) Taylor of Georgia; Karin (Knox) Brands of Arizona; Diane (Clark) Seay of Texas.
