Our beloved Husband, Dad, Brother, Papa and Pops, Travis "Neil” Grant, left this world on August 19, 2026 at the age of 78 to live eternally with his Savior, Jesus Christ. He died at his home in Eagle, Idaho in the care of his wife of 54 years and family who loved him deeply. Neil was born August 29, 1947 in Phoenix, Arizona. As a young child he moved to Western Grove, Arkansas and lived there until about age 11. Neil surrendered his life to Jesus in the Ozark mountains which remained his favorite place on earth until his death. Neil and family then moved to Arizona where he graduated from Glendale High School. He later served in the army during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of Specialist 5 and a Purple Heart. Neil studied business at Grand Canyon University and ultimately chose a career with the United States Postal Service. After retiring from the USPS he went on to work for the Humboldt Unified School District as a bus driver and security guard.
Neil fell in love with Jeanne Atkinson of Glendale, Arizona and the two were married at First Baptist Church of Glendale on October 23, 1971, surrounded by family and friends. They kept their vows to one another for the rest of Neil’s life, 54 years. Neil and Jeanne built their life together in Arizona raising three children. In addition to Neil’s quiet strength that made those around him feel safe, he was a gentle, thoughtful and kind man. He lived out 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 better than most.
“Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered, it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
He had an unbelievable memory and sharp wit accompanied by the highest work ethic. Among many other things, he served his community as an Elder and Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher and Child Evangelism Fellowship volunteer and church planter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was known to enjoy long hours of hard work outdoors. He was cherished by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. Today he is with His Savior, Jesus, enjoying a place where the beauty far exceeds the Ozark Mountains.
Neil is survived by his beloved wife Jeanne; his children David ( Kim) Grant, Brad (Autumn) Grant, Laura (Chris) Johnson; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister Karen (Larry) Kamp; and many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, 10:30am at Pierce Park Baptist Church located at 5350 N. Pierce Park Ln. in Boise, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation may be made in Neil’s name to Pierce Park Baptist Church.
