Robert Bruce Wallace
1959 – 2024
We gather here today to commemorate a remarkable life and to share the memories we will all continue to cherish.
On Sunday, December 15, 2024, Robert Bruce Wallace, loving son, husband, father, grandfather and dear friend peacefully passed away in Boise, Idaho, at the age of 65.
Robert was born January 19,1959 at Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas, to Colonel Victor Manson Wallace and Mary Rutte Wallace. He graduated from Anderson High and earned a BBA in Accounting from Texas A & M University. Robert was a CPA and an entrepreneur. He had a passion for challenging himself and the confidence to assume the risk of creating a new business then stepping into a leadership role to ensure its success. His favorite thing was to dig into messes he found in Accounting Departments putting them back in order. He had a special smile for those moments.
Robert, a man of strong faith and friend to anyone who met him, enthusiastically served his church and community. He participated in church events beginning as a teenager attending Highland Park Baptist Church, Austin Christian Fellowship, Fellowship at Forest Creek and most recently, Northlake Church where he served as an Elder. Robert loved the Lord, his church and his family . He took the time to show up, and was present when needed. A prime example of this is the recent decision for he and Karen to relocate from their deep roots in Texas to Idaho to be nearer to their children and grandchildren.
With one-of-a-kind sense of humor, he loved to make others laugh. Have you seen his “Big Chicken” (Lefty)? This 12’ tall colorful, metal sculpture has become a landmark. The chicken wouldn’t fit in his RV but his most important things certainly did. Karen and his dogs, Carlton and Ruby. Robert got a kick out of taking to the road with them all.
Another favorite activity was acting as manservant / bartender during Karen’s Girls Nights. His margaritas are legendary. This manly man fit right in with the girls (his sisters trained him well). To Karen’s friends, Robert was the brother they all wished they had.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Karen Colleen Wallace of Boise, Idaho, sons Anthony Garrett (Jordan) Jacobs, and their children Wallace William Jacobs and Dorothy Kay Jacobs, and Bryan Charles (Kristen) Jacobs and their son, Garrett Emanuel Jacobs, and beloved Airedale Terriers, Carlton and Ruby. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Rutte Wallace, sisters Virginia Wallace (Jon) Petersen and Ann Wallace (Colonel G. R.) Dean, mother-in-law Linda Brockman Hacker, sister-in-law Tina Elaine (CT) Lee and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, who may not be named but loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Colonel Victor Manson Wallace and father-in-law Alden Floyd Hacker.
Robert was a pillar of strength for his wife, Karen, his sons Anthony and Bryan, his beloved family and his dear friends. This man was a beacon of love, you could feel it in his presence. Now, even though his absence leaves a void in our hearts, let’s hold onto that feeling of love he so generously shared with us.
We welcome all who knew him to join us during this time in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply, who will be missed and who will be remembered often.
To commemorate his remarkable life and the memories we cherish, a Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, noon at Northlake Church, 3610 Lohman Ford Road, Lago Vista, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Texas Airedale Rescue Team or Envision Dallas.
