Juarita “Rita” Faye Hall of Garden City, ID and Pismo Beach, CA passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the age of 88. Rita was born an identical twin in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on May 5, 1936, to Minnie Vivian (nee Hodges) and C.S. Willet. She was raised in Porterville, CA and Kansas City, KS with help from her maternal grandmother. She graduated from Porterville High School in 1954. After high school, she worked as a psychiatric technician at the Porterville Development Center.
Rita met Fredrick Hall in Porterville. They married in 1955. Rita and Fred had two biological sons and adopted two daughters as infants. She always said that there was no difference. They lived in Roswell, NM and Huntsville, AL, but raised their family mostly in Bakersfield, CA. Rita chose to be an “at home” mom and provided day care in her home. She led Camp Fire Girls, served as a Den Mother, and was active in the PTA. Rita’s children were her pride and joy.
Rita was a talented gardener and avid bargain shopper. She enjoyed being creative, often painting figurines. Rita kept in close contact with extended family. A common sight was Rita on the phone making dinner, talking as fast as she cooked. She was known to open their home to relatives. She regularly hosted the Hall Family Christmas Party in the 1970s and 1980s and never missed a Hall Family Reunion. She was deeply invested in the wellbeing of her nieces, nephews, and all children in her care.
Rita graduated with her associate’s degree from Bakersfield College in 1983 and earned her preschool teaching certificate. She taught preschool in Bakersfield and was thrilled to have a little grandson living in Bakersfield for a few years. Rita and Fred moved to Idaho in 2003.
Rita was Fred’s caregiver all the years he had Alzheimer’s. After his passing in December 2010, she relocated to Pismo Beach, where she made many friends, spent time with family, and enjoyed music at Grover Station Grill. At the time of Rita’s passing, however, she resided with her twin in Idaho, surrounded by devoted relatives.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, her brother Carl Willet, and her son-in-law Robert Nielson. She is survived by her sons Phred Hall (Marilee) of Denver, CO, and Dan Hall (Elizabeth) of Porterville, CA, daughters Tamara Nielson of Richland, WA, and Lisa Wallace (Douglas) of Riverside, CA. Her sisters Donna Peirson of Pismo Beach, CA, and Nita Spears of Garden City, ID also survive. She leaves seven dear grandchildren, four precious great grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a memorial service at a private residence on Saturday, May 31, 2025, in Pismo Beach, California. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to City of Hope in Rita’s honor. Condolences may be written on the Neptune Society of Boise website.
