Patsy Ruth Moss

Patsy was born Nov. 24, 1930, in Callahan County, Texas, to Maddie Dixon Hayhurst and father, E.A. Walden.

In her early teens, the family moved to El Centro, California, where she lived with her granny, Uncle Zeke and siblings Lillian, John Young and Danny Young. Patsy graduated from El Centro High.

Patsy was born to be a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her husband Cliff of nearly 58 years, children and grandchildren with all of her heart. Her family was everything to her.

During their decades together, Patsy and her family went on many adventures with friends and relatives. She climbed Half Dome in Yosemite at 50 years old with the encouragement of her children and husband. She camped and backpacked all over central California, flipping pancakes for Pathfinder kids who counted her as their own. She became known for her baked goods at summer camp in her late 40s, went long-haul trucking with Cliff in her 60s and took a cruise to Alaska in her 80s.

She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, fussing over her dog and shopping. (She could shop much younger family members into the ground well into her 90s.)

Patsy was active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church for over 65 years and loved her Lord.

Patsy was preceded in death by her mother, Maddie Dixon Hayhurst; her father, E.A Walden; her sister, Lillian Wellemeyer; and her brother, Danny Young.

Patsy is survived by brother, John Young of Redding, California; her husband, Clifford Ray Moss of Emmett; daughter, Charlotte Lemas of Modesto, California; daughter, Pamela Heiker of Sonora, California; son, Greg Moss of Emmett; daughter, Leanne Strickland of Emmett; daughter, Raylene DeLuca of Ohio; son, Cliff Moss of California; son, Ray Moss of Emmett; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give a huge thanks to Heart ‘n Home Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our mother. A special thank you to Julie, her bath aide.

We give exceptional gratitude to our sister Pam who stayed with Mom for a year and a half away from her home and family to keep her promise to be with her until the end. Sissy, you kept your promise. We love you. Please know it meant everything to us and to Mother.
