September 17, 1951 – July 13, 2026
Laurie Ann Cordes, 74, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Laurie was born on September 17, 1951, in Fallon, Nevada, to Robert and Joan Curry, who preceded her in death. At the age of 13, her family moved to Payette, Idaho, where she grew up and graduated from Payette High School in 1971.
During her high school years, Laurie worked as a waitress at A&W in Payette. On June 30, 1972, she married the love of her life, George Cordes. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and love. Just weeks before her passing, Laurie and George celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary, a testament to their enduring commitment to one another.
Laurie and George welcomed their first son, Bradley Arthur Cordes, on September 10, 1975, followed by their second son, Wade Allen Cordes, on November 16, 1977. Laurie devoted herself to raising her boys before returning to the workforce as a lunch lady for the Weiser School District, where she faithfully served for 27 years. She loved the students and staff she worked with and took great pride in caring for generations of children in her community.
Family was the center of Laurie’s world. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren and was happiest when everyone was together. She loved trips to the Oregon Coast, camping adventures with her family, collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia, rock collecting, and never turned down an ice cold Diet Pepsi. Her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love made everyone feel welcome.
Laurie is survived by her devoted husband, George Cordes; her son Wade Allen (Kelli) Cordes of Fruitland, Idaho; her daughter-in-law, Wendi Cordes Adolfson of Weiser, Idaho; and her beloved grandchildren, Hannah Cordes, Brogan Cordes, Whitney Cordes, and Brody Cordes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Joan Curry; her son, Bradley Arthur Cordes; and her brothers, Ken Curry, Ronnie Curry, and Gaylen Curry.
Laurie will be remembered for her kindness, her quiet strength, her dedication to her family, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched throughout her 74 years.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Laurie’s love, laughter, and beautiful spirit will remain with us always. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
