Laura Kay Bostic

She was born to Sebran Alvin Dunn and Martha Jeanette Pierce Dunn in Fallon, Nevada on October 16th, 1956. Much of her childhood was spent traveling with her evangelical parents to various parsonages. She was the younger sister to David Dunn who tragically lost his life in an automobile accident when Katie was just nearly 2 years old. She tried to ride her tricycle to heaven to go see Jesus and David. Katie's father was her beacon of light, her guiding star in her foundational love for Christ. Sebran lost his life in an airplane accident when Katie was almost 12 years old, leaving her mother with four young children to raise. The early loss in her life, while tragic, did not suppress her spirit, love for others, and faith. Her mom married James Kenneth Pack in 1976 when Katie was 20 years old. With this marriage came new siblings, including Mary. Mary brought out the best in Katie. Throughout her childhood, Katie loved to sing gospel music and learned to sew from her Grandma Laura and Aunt Betty. Katie would sing with Mary and sew her pageant dresses. Tailoring was her primary form of income for much of her young adult life.

On December 22nd, 1986, Katie married Larry Odis Bostic. Their oldest daughter, Laura Ann Bostic (Edwards) was born April 1st, 1988. Katie wasn't supposed to be able to survive childbirth due to a heart condition requiring open-heart surgery in the early 90s, making the date Laura was born an amusing coincidence. Their second daughter, Pamela Kay Bostic (McNair) was born June 3rd, 1989. Katie continued her love of sewing throughout the girls' childhoods, often sending them to school in dresses where they got to select the fabric themselves. Their family sewing companies, The Golden Needle, Team Mastots, and Mountain Top Creations, sent them to various locations moving from California to Northern Idaho to Central Oregon. In the early 2000s, Katie transitioned from Tailor to Lender and became a Mortgage Loan Officer. Raising a family in a small town proved to have its limitations so the Bostic's searched for a new place to call home and allow their daughters to finish out high school with a better pool of opportunities ahead of them. They landed in Meridian, Idaho which remained her home. Here, Katie flourished in the loan industry and built connections with the community and those who worked closely with her. In the later 2000s, she transitioned into Reverse Mortgages which she felt was her true calling in being able to help the elderly feel secure in their homeownership.

Katie welcomed two grandchildren, both from Laura; Bethany Kay Bostic and Link Calvin Edwards. Katie loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, volunteering at her church with Larry, and putting her purpose into her work. Katie developed dementia in the 2020s, but never forgot her love of Larry, her daughters, or her faith in Christ.

Katie is survived by her spouse of nearly 40 years (Larry Bostic), her daughters (Laura Edwards, Pam McNair), her grandchildren (Bethany Bostic, Link Edwards), and many siblings. She has joined her father (Sebren Dunn), mother (Jeanette Pack), step-father (Kenneth Pack), and brother (David Dunn) in Heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held at her brother Don's property (Dunn Rite Ranch, 205 S McDermott Rd, Nampa, ID, 83687) on Friday, August 7th, 2026 at 11 am. Please wear something purple to honor Katie's favorite color. We will be serving the pancakes she would make her family on Sunday mornings.
